While Milan and Cortina gear up for the hyped 2026 Winter Olympics, preaching sustainability and cooperation, Il Grande Gioco exposes the other side of the medal: a predatory model that draws in international capital, skyrockets housing costs, and dismantles public sports for private corporations. It exports hyper-tourism tied to alpine skiing into fragile mountain ecosystems, already battered by climate change—unsustainable, extractive, and destructive.

This is exactly what's hitting us here in Porto: real estate investment funds speculate, touristify, and gentrify, forcing out social spaces like ours.
