Seiva Club de Leitura "The Wretched of the Earth' de Frantz Fanon

Estamos entusiasmades por anunciar o primeiro clube de leitura do novo ano: ‘The Wretched of the Earth' de Frantz Fanon (sim, começamos em força). Nesta próxima sessão iremos discutir o primeiro capitulo - ’a Violencia’.

📖 Num dos textos anticoloniais mais decisivos do último século, Fanon expõe o confronto entre o colonizado e o colonizador e como, através da luta violenta contra o opressor (sendo a violência a linguagem do colonizador imposta ao colonizado), o colonizado — agora frente a frente com o seu opressor — recupera a sua humanidade e estabelece as bases políticas para ditar o seu próprio futuro.
Olhando para o passado para analisar o presente e, a partir daí, antecipar os futuros possíveis, Fanon analisa os interesses dos diferentes protagonistas históricos para construir uma compreensão materialista dialéctica de como avançar a luta contra os franceses (o colonizador) na Argélia (a colonizada).

ENG : We are excited to announce the first book club for the new year: Frantz Fanon's ‘The Wretched of the Earth' (yes, we're starting off strong). In the next session, we’ll be breaking down Chapter 1 - ‘On Violence’.

📖 In one of the most pivotal anti-colonial texts in the past century, Fanon lays down the confrontation of the colonized versus the colonizer, and how through the violent battle against the oppressor (violence being the language of the colonizer imposed on the colonized), the colonized, now seeing their oppressor eye to eye, regain their humanity and lay the political ground to dictate their own future.

By looking at the past, to analyze the present, to then predict the possible future, Fanon analyzes the interests of all the different historical protagonists to paint a dialectical material understanding of how to further the fight against the French (the colonizer) in Algeria (the colonzied). Fanon, in this Pan-Africanist masterpiece pulls no punches, and for that we are ever grateful.
